Trans Botswana | Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park, Caprivi & Vic Falls

Meet between 13:00 and 14:00 in Letlhakane. Refuel whilst everyone is supplied with two-way radios before heading out onto the vast, flat terrain of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Overnight we camp wild at Kubu Island. Kubu Island is a dry granite rock protruding from the vast saltpans and boasts the finest examples of ancient Baobab trees. The magnificent sunset will set the backdrop as we enjoy a sundowner on the pan whilst getting to know one another. Gather around the campfire to enjoy a wholesome meal. Your tour leader will enlighten you as to what to expect over the next ten days.

Early risers can enjoy coffee and rusks against a backdrop of enormous baobabs as the sun rises on the first morning of your Botswana adventure.

After breakfast, we test drive our 4×4 skills on the sandy terrain while heading to our next camp on the outskirts of Maun, along the way, stopping to enjoy a light picnic lunch.  Being on the road so regularly, our guides have discovered picnic stops that offer the best shade and which are safest for the convoy.

Drive to Maun for the morning to replenish stocks and refuel. This morning you have the option to experience a one-hour scenic flight over the Okavango Delta or to simply explore the markets of Maun.

Continue west and then north to our next campsite, stopping for fuel along the way. Our campsite for the next two nights is situated on the banks of the mighty Okavango. The Bhejane crew will have readied our campsite and upon arrival, dinner will be cooking and we will be able to enjoy a nice hot shower before a cold sundowner.

Today we enjoy a well-deserved rest day on the banks of the Okavango River.  Explore the camp surrounds at your leisure, take in some spectacular birding, enjoy a bit of tiger fishing (optional) or just relax. This stretch of water is well known for its abundant bird life that includes Fish Eagles and the elusive Pel’s Fishing Owl.

Brunch will be served at midday leaving enough time to explore and unwind before a late afternoon guided boat cruise on the tranquil waterways in comfortable aluminum boats.

Depart north out of Botswana and into Namibia via the mystical Tsodilo Hills a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its rock art and Bushman paintings.

Tsodilo is a sacred and mystical place and our guide shares with us some of the history and spiritualism of one of the worlds oldest historical landmarks. We break for a picnic lunch in this geological wonderland, which is also the highest point in Botswana.

Our campsite for the next 3 nights will be at Ngepi Camp situated on the unspoilt upper reaches of the Okavango Delta Panhandle. Situated in a riverine belt of giant Jackalberry trees and lush surroundings together our camp provides us access to an interesting floating swimming pool, mokorro rides and a visit to a local community – all optional. Its a perfect setting for socialising and relaxing after the day’s activities

Enjoy a late start to the day, deciding upon which activities to partake in for the morning. After breakfast/brunch you can either utilise the opportunity to relax at the campsite or visit the nearby Mbabata Game Reserve. Other campsite activities include bird watching or one of the many activities on offer.

The Bhejane activity for the day is a late afternoon sundowner cruise on the mighty Okavango River

Drive through the Mahango Game Reserve to experience your game viewing skills. A picnic lunch will be served at one of the many scenic stops.

This section of Bwabwata National Park has over 300 bird species and boasts four of the big five. It is also renowned for its roan antelope and sable population.

Today we say goodbye to Ngepi and head back into Botswana and Chobe National Park – our next campsite is just outside Kasane and where we will spend our last 3 nights.

After breakfast we enjoy a bus ride to the magnificent Victoria Falls. Today we will have a full day exploring the Falls and the little town of Vic Falls, a bit of market shopping and after a picnic lunch, some sight-seeing. For the brave-hearted there are a number of adrenaline activities such as bungy jumping and helicopter flights over the Falls (not included in the tour price). 

Today we explore Chobe National Park. Depart for a 3-hour open safari game drive in the morning followed by a 3-hour boat cruise on the Chobe River in the afternoon.

Gather around the campfire enjoying the unique friendship bond that can only be formed by fellow travellers who, together, have experienced the magic of the African bush.

After breakfast, we pack up at a leasurely pace, say our goodbyes and head home.
